The Restigouche Arts & Crafts Council celebrates the originality of the handcrafted items and the creativity of the artisans. We support the artists and crafters in several important ways; through recognising, encouraging show casing their talents. In turn, this brings their work to the attention of the surrounding communities that embrace and support their creativity.
In 2001, a small group of artisans and crafts people who strongly respected and appreciated the traditions of the past and present of handmade creations opened the East Wind Boutique in the Arran Park. Even now, in 2015 we have kept the original concepts but have advanced in new projects to future ourselves in representing the handcraft movement of the Restigouche County.

Monique is a self taught potter who started potting in Australia where she lived for three years on three different occasions. She stays on top of her craft by spending much of her free time in her studio, by reading on the subject and by attending different workshops. She makes two different types of pieces - her functional pieces for everyday use which she fires in her electric kiln and her artistic pieces which she fires in her propane raku kiln.

When Irvine retired in 1996 after working 32 years for N.B. Power, he thought he should pursue his woodworking hobby. His main interest was making items with the scroll saw, but he did have to invest in several other power tools. Irvine started off making small items mainly for the kitchen. He then proceeded to build quilt racks, shelves, tables and country benches. Irvin's craft items are now proudly displayed in homes in all provinces of Canada as well as in several places in Europe and in South America.

Kizzy-Vila soaps began as an experiment making goat’s milk soap for Frank after years of horribly dry skin and general disappointment with the detergent soaps available in most stores. He didn’t care for their scents and they did nothing for his skin. After using his first bar of homemade goats milk soap, he was convinced that he had found the perfect soap for him and his family. After using the soaps in his own home and loving them, he decided to let friends and family try it too. Soon his friends and family began requesting soap as well as additional scents and combinations of scents. Then they started encouraging Frank to start making his soaps available to the public. The quality of his recipe and ingredients never change. His soaps are all natural and made with raw goats milk (from our All Reg Nubian dairy goats), fragrance oil, essential oils, olive oil, oil, Shea Butter, coconut oil, Olive oil, and sodium hydroxide. He uses natural clays and herbs for the added skincare benefits. Visitors from away my website http://kizzy-vila.weebly.com

As a mature student, returning to school to pursue a long awaited dream has been a challenge and a joy for Glenda. Her passion for color and patterns led her to enroll at New Brunswick College of Craft and Design into the Surface Design Diploma. This diverse course inspired and acknowledged an inner drive for Glenda's passion. Now that she has completed this area of the Textiles Department, Glenda would like to follow her interest and desire to enter the Diploma in Fiber. There, Glenda can apply her surface design knowledge to make the cloth. Walking through the weaving section of the school, Glenda would stop to admire the cloth being made and has tried her hand at weaving. During her year in Advanced Graduate Studies, Glenda accomplished the self instruction in tapestry. With the help from a mentor and studio technicians She created an image that came from a small sample of batik. All the fibers are hand dyed to match the existing art work. Glenda will be working on a Diploma of Fine Craft in Fiber at NBCCD. http://maggbrucedesigns.weebly.com/
